Welcome

Dental Implants Lansing MI

Traditionally, missing teeth have been replaced with fixed bridgework or removable partial dentures with metal clips for retention.  The fixed bridge option requires the placement of crowns on teeth on either side of the space to support the bridge.  Dental implants are now an excellent alternative to replace missing teeth, particularly when the adjacent teeth have no fillings, are too weak, or there is a long span that would overstress the potential anchor teeth.  Ultimately, it is a less invasive procedure for the adjacent teeth.

The procedure involves the surgical placement of a titanium screw (fixture) into the space and then fitting a crown onto the screw.  These have the potential of looking much more natural than many fixed bridges.  The treatment time ranges from two to twelve months depending on the situation.

Dental Bridges

Fixed bridges have been a time tested method of tooth replacement, and  they are still an appropriate treatment in many cases today.  This case involved replacing the existing bridge and 3 existing crowns, which had asymmetrical  and square tooth form, gum inflammation, gum and tooth height discrepancies with a replacement tooth that did not look natural.  It does not emerge from the gum like a natural tooth and thus has an artificial appearance. The porcelain work is opaque and un-natural.  Through the use of plastic surgical techniques the gum line was made more appealing.

A much more proportionate tooth form was incorporated into the replacement teeth and superior ceramic work gives a much more natural and youthful effect. It is difficult to tell which tooth is the false one in the final result.
